The 95% confidence intervals of expected species diversity through time of a clade that diversifies with a rate equal to the ovenbird-woodcreeper radiation as a whole with a relative extinction rate of ϵ = 0.5 (solid line). The shaded area represents the 95% confidence intervals for extreme values of relative extinction rates (ϵ = 0.90; upper boundary, and ϵ = 0; lower boundary). The observed numbers of species in clades A - J (see Table 2) have been plotted against the estimated age of the each clade.
