Identification of 'ortholog' complexes and their evolutionary history. Example explaining the identification of 'ortholog' complexes and the maximum parsimony approach to infer the evolutionary history according to a phylogenetic tree. A hypothetical complex consisting of four components is derived from HPRD (a). Computing the ortholog genes using InParanoid and deriving the constitution of the complex in all species of interest (b). Using a maximum parsimony approach to infer the evolutionary history, gene emergence and loss events, of every component of the complex.
