Bayesian admixture plot highlight on-going hybridization in Iceland. Nine microsatellite markers were used and the genotypes were analysed using Structure version 2.3.2 [80–82]. Prior geographic information was used for all continental eels comprising American (orange), and European (blue) eels to infer admixture levels in Icelandic eels. Pure species status was accepted for Icelandic individuals when the ancestry proportions Q were greater than 0.9. No pure American eel was detected in Iceland.
