Lineage-specific and shared introns among selected eukaryotes from diverse lineages. In the matrix diagram, the rows are linked to the phylogenetic tree of eukaryotes and show the number of intron positions that are species-specific (diagonal elements, i.e. the same species in row and column) and those that are shared between species. The species names in the columns are abbreviated versions of the species names in the rows. See the legend to Figure 6 for species names and their abbreviations. The size of each ellipse reflects the number of intron positions.
