The newly identified “SIP-like” fungal MIP channels are distinct from orthodox AQPs, AQGPs and XIPs. (b) Phylogenetic analysis of all fungal AQGPs. The newly identified δ-cluster forms one of the major subfamilies along with α, β, Fps1-like and Yfl054-like AQGPs. γ1 and γ2 form two small clusters. The color of the branches indicates the taxonomy as mentioned in the legends.
