The box plots represent the median as the middle line, 25 and 75% quantiles as box boundaries, and 10 and 90% quantiles as whiskers. The median (range) duration of copulation for unmanipulated matings is given under the corresponding box. Classes not sharing the same letter are significantly different (all H > 23.6, all P < 0.01, from a Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA followed by Tukey-type multiple comparisons). Sample sizes are given in parentheses.
