Mutations occur predominantly at arginine and glycine residues. a) Percentage of AAMs that occur at a given amino acid residue. b) Relative contribution of a given amino acid residue in HERG and KCNQ1 to AAMs. The total number of AAMs that occur at a given amino acid was divided by the total number of residue sites in the combination of the two protein regions used in the analysis. c) The number of AAMs in KCNQ1 and HERG at each of the twenty residues, proportional to their occurrence in the two channels, is significantly correlated (p = 0.001) with the amino acid's weighted average expected chemical severity.
