Schematic representation of the location of 17 differentially expressed genes mapped along chromosome A (the sex chromosome), 14 mapped along chromosome J (homologous to arm 3L in D. melanogaster), and 20 mapped along chromosome U (homologous to arm 2L in D. melanogaster). The centromere is placed on the left (black circle) and the telomere on the right. The linear order of genes is that in the standard gene arrangements, and the chromosomal regions covered by inversions segregating in the thermal stocks (labelled on the right-hand side next to the segments; overlapping inversions underlined) are indicated.
