Table 3 Synonymous (dS) and nonsynonymous (dN) substitution rate estimates for all relaxin-like genes. Substitution rates were estimated using the Yang and Neilsen, 2000 method as implemented in yn00 in the PAML suite. Estimations were made using pairwise alignments of the nucleotide sequences of the B and A domains of human and chimpanzee or human and mouse genes. A dN/dS of 99 represents infinity and indicates that all substitutions detected are nonsynonymous, while na indicates that a dN/dS measurement is not possible as the sequences being compared are identical, or have only synonymous substitutions.
