This phylogenetic tree was constructed based on the amino-acid sequences of putative mature kisspeptins (for the alignment and references of sequences see Additional files 2 and 3: Figure S2 and Table S1) using the Neighbour Joining method with 1,000 bootstrap replicates. The number shown at each branch node indicates the bootstrap value (%); only values and branching above 70% are indicated. The tree was rooted using the sea lamprey Kiss1 sequence. The sauropsid kisspeptins are in red.
