  1. Note: All analyses were conducted on the phylogenetically corrected and size-corrected residuals of the acoustic parameters [34]. One-tailed tests were conducted for all analyses, under the assumption that species that are genetically more related show more similar values for the acoustic parameters. Significance was estimated using a Monte-Carlo procedure, with 10,000 permutations. For Moran’s I, the values given are the standard deviates of Moran’s I statistic. Mantel r values correspond to the best-fitting model (which can be a multivariate trait distance) obtained using a stepwise forward procedure on the entire sample of 90 species. * P < 0.05, ** P < 0.01, *** P < 0.001.
