ELMOD2: ELMO/CED-12 domain containing 2; TBC1D9: TBC1 domain family, member 9; DNAJB13: DnaJ (Hsp40) related, subfamily B, member 13; PPME1: Protein phosphatase methylesterase 1; CAMKK1: calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase kinase 1; C2CD3: C2 calcium-dependent domain containing 3. The symbol (X) indicates genes that have been lost. Thus, UCP1 has been lost in reptile and bird lineages whereas UCP2 and UCP3 have been lost in bird and amphibian, respectively. C2CD3 (the downstream flanking gene of UCP2/UCP3 in mammal, reptile, bird and amphibian) has been lost in teleost fishes.
