Chloroplast markers suggested by Shaw et al. [19, 20] for species level were combined into the longer regions that we co-amplified with single primer pairs. Full sampling comprises 62 accessions. Reduced sampling is a dataset that contains a sub-sampling of 26 selected accessions from the full sampling. The percentage of variability of the chloroplast markers is very similar between regions and among coding and non-coding portions at the taxonomic level in this study. In contrast, the nuclear gene has highly variable introns, which yields a total variability that is two to three times greater than any of the chloroplast markers.
