Data were showed for the six paralogous groups, as published in mouse [26], zebrafish [12], medaka [18] and dogfish (this study) (expression patterns of co-orthologs such as zebrafish dlx2a and dlx2b were added up). Species initials are indicated when positive expression has been published in the epithelial (E) or mesenchymal (M) compartments in the different stages.
