The grey bars represent the 95% credible intervals for tMRCAs for Rattus clades from BEAST. In the BEAST tree (A), the outgroup has been removed, the Asian and the Australo-Papuan clades are constrained to be monophyletic and a prior is assigned to the root age as described in the text. The ML and MrBayes tree (B) is labelled with bootstrap support (BS) and the Bayesian posterior probability (BPP) at each node (BS/BPP). The mouse outgroup has been removed to improve legibility. Sequences marked with * are from the WG dataset.
