Inferred intermediate haplotypes are represented by a small solid dot. Each line segment represents a single mutation. The letters defining haplotypes in Table 2 are shown to the right of each node. Geographic origins of isolates in each haplotype are proportionally represented in pie charts by different patterns shown in the key in the centre of the figure. The ancestral haplotypes determined by root probability [33] are indicated by asterisks (*), whereas those determined by maximum parsimony using E. necatorvar. ampelopsidisas the outgroup are indicated by §.
