Tree of 152 chamois based on the combined sequence. Neighbor-Joining tree based on the number of substitutions per nucleotide under the model of Jukes-Cantor. Bootstrap support is shown at the nodes. Tip labels contain the unique individual identifier that includes the sampling site in the form of a capital-letter code (as depicted in Figure 1). Colours indicate the recognized subspecies as in Figure 1. Clade mtW, Clade mtC and Clade mtE indicate the three major mitochondrial lineages in black, grey and white. Coloured triangles in black, grey and white indicate the affiliation of individuals to microsatellite Clades μsatW, μsatC and μsatE.
